Feeling Bloated?
Posted by: | CommentsSo that’s Christmas done for another year, and hopefully people had a great time catching up with family, spending time with their nearest and dearest and generally having a wonderful time.
But as the last in-law heads home, and the indigestion lozenges start to do their work, the New Year edges ever close. So, with just a few days before 2009 begins, what will YOU do to help achieve your goals, realise ambitions, or even simply to counteract the economic downturn as it starts to bite hard?
My theme for the year is summed up by a single word; “focus”. Focus on a handful of key business activities, focus on my own self-development, and a sharper focus on the overall “big picture”.
One of the things I will be focusing on is “The Network Marketing Machine” *, the results of which I hope to document here. I hope many of you will find this useful, and I look forward to getting your feedback.
* For those who don’t know, The Network Marketing Machine brings together a number of resources that can be used to drive the marketing of ANY online business, and is completely accessible to non-technical users.
Seasons Greetings
Posted by: | CommentsAs I write this, it is 8am on Christmas Eve here in Western Australia. Christmas has always been one of my favourite times of year, and this year is no exception as I look forward to spending time away from the office, with friends and family, and taking the chance to celebrate, relax and look forward.
2008 has been an eventful year, and 2009 will be a massive one in our household, with the new arrival due in May, and both of us hitting the big 4-Oh.
They say life begins at 40, and that’s the overriding feeling I have as we approach 2009. With a greater focus on creating independent income, and the opportunity afforded by that to do the things you really want, I fully intend that 2009 represents a turning point in my own life.
With the fragilities of global economies clearly exposed this year, I hope and wish for similar turning points for many people.
So a Merry Christmas to you all, and heartfelt wishes for a Properous New Year.
See you next year!
New Year’s Resolution?
Posted by: | CommentsAs scary as it may seem, Christmas is only a little over 2 weeks away, and so we are therefore only a few weeks away from 2009! I don’t know about you, but 2008 seemed to flash by, and what a year it turned out to be.
As I write this, the world stands on the brink of a global recession, if it hasn’t started already. Stocks, shares, savings, pension funds and other paper assets that seemed to valuable and safe, have had their value obliterated in a short space of time.
All this as we head towards Christmas, that time of year when the consumer society we live in goes into retail overdrive, maxing out yet another credit card, feeling obliged to buy, to indulge and to push the boundaries. Will the threat of recession make a difference? Probably not, “Christmas fever” will kick in again at some point, but I hope people make the most of the good feelings because it could be one hell of a hangover in the New Year!
This is why I have already made my New Year’s resolution, and am not even waiting until Jan 1st 2009 to start enacting it. As with most resolutions, mine is simple enough in concept; it’s acting on it that is the hard part. So what did I do? I resolved to start creating wealth rather than being caught up on the wages treadmill.
Those who know me ought to know by now that I don’t really do the “materialism” thing, but it has become clearer and clearer in recent times that in order to achieve my main goals I need to spend time on them, and the only way to find that time is to become unemployed. There are 2 ways I can achieve that, but I prefer not to take the one that involves getting behind on mortgage payments etc.
So, for the first time in many years, I have actually made a New Year’s Resolution - the question is, when it comes down to it, what will YOU do? Will you promise to give up some vice or other? Will you just make a wish for something vague like “a better year”, or will you instead resolve to address your family’s long-term financial future, and to enable you to fulfil your own dreams?

Employment is Over-rated
Posted by: | CommentsStudy hard at school, get good qualifications, find a good job and you’ll be set for life. Does this sound familiar? It’s pretty much what my parents told me, and probably what the parents of most people reading this told them.
I want to let you in on a secret; it’s a broken model, or at the very least it’s no longer the ONLY model available to people! The Industrial Age is over, job security is a thing of the past, and if you’re relying on your pension funds to deliver a life of luxury once you retire then good luck to you!
With the recent price crashes, entire continents teetering on the brink of recession, and people seeing the value of their pension funds in freefall, it is clear to me that people need to look to alternative ways to earn income. Not everyone will, many will cling to the comfort and security of old model, and that’s not a bad thing in many ways; after all, the world will probably always need employees for many things.
But for those who catch the vision, for those who can see there is more to life than working for a wage, then spending 5, 10, 15, or more years just about getting by, right now is a GREAT time to challenge the old ways of thinking.
Think about it, wouldn’t you rather spend a small amount of time creating things that will continue to generate income for you for as long as you own them? Wouldn’t it make sense to create passive income so you never need worry about money, work, bills or retirement planning ever again?
Things like network marketing and Internet marketing have acquired something of a bad name, but mostly that is unjustified. I know it sounds too easy to be true, but you really can set yourself up with recurring income just by consuming products distributed through a network marketing organisation. The “hard” work is in the mental attitude; persisting with something, holding on to your vision for long enough. Many people fall by the wayside, often when they are within touching distance of their goal! Maybe this happens because they have to maintain their focus while also building their own team? Maybe it happens because they focused on retail sales, and don’t feel they are selling enough product?
It is for these reasons that the Changing The World 2gether team has been put together in the way that it has. Every member advertises just one web address, new members are assigned into the team automatically, and product sales are limited to personal consumption!
I believe the time has come for more people to look at alternative economic models, and I also believe that CTWT has arrived on the scene at a perfect moment. It’s why the team plays a huge part of my own business plans, and I would certainly recommend it to anyone who is serious about quitting the rat race.
